Velvet Pine Horizon publishes articles about slowing down, living more sustainably and making space for creative hobbies. We enjoy writing them, and we want to be clear about what they are and what they are not before you act on anything you read here.
Not medical or professional advice
The articles are general information for readers in general. They are not medical, psychological, psychiatric, nutritional, fitness, legal, financial or any other professional advice, and they do not take the place of a conversation with a qualified person who knows your situation. Nothing on the site is meant to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any illness or condition, and the site does not offer therapy, counselling, coaching or consultations of any kind.
Topics such as meditation, breathing exercises, sleep routines, movement, eating habits and journaling are described the way many people practice them. They do not suit everyone. Please see a doctor before you change your diet, begin regular exercise, or try breath-holding or other breathing exercises if you have a medical condition, are pregnant, take medication or are unsure.
If you are struggling
If you feel persistently low, anxious, exhausted or unsafe, or if you are thinking about harming yourself, please do not rely on an article. Contact a doctor or the mental health consultation service of your local government or health center, and in an emergency in Japan call 119 for an ambulance or 110 for the police.
Results vary
We do not promise any outcome from following an article. How a habit feels, and whether it helps, differs from person to person, and the articles describe ideas, not guaranteed results. Where we mention benefits, they describe what many people say about the practice, not clinical findings. We have not tested any practice in a study of our own.
Sustainability and household tips
Suggestions about gardening, repairs, home improvements, paints, filters and similar topics are written as everyday ideas. Local rules, building codes, waste-sorting regulations and product safety instructions differ, particularly between countries and between municipalities in Japan. Check them, and use a qualified tradesperson for any electrical, plumbing, structural or chemical work.
Pictures
The photographs are illustrations chosen to go with the text. They do not show the operator, staff or any real customer, and a picture of a person or a place does not mean that the person or place is connected to us.
Accuracy and links
We try to keep the pages accurate, but we cannot promise that every statement is complete or up to date. Outside links on the About page are given for further reading only; we do not control those sites and are not affiliated with them. For the rules on using this site, see our Terms of Use.
Tell us about a mistake
If you spot something that looks wrong or too strong, write to us through the contact page or at info@velvetpinehorizon.com and tell us which page it is on. We will take a look.
